Chase Sapphire Preferred

Chase · $95 annual fee · Terms last verified September 2026

June 2026 refresh kept the $95 fee, added 3x on gas and vacation homes, and doubled the hotel credit to $100. The catch: Hyatt transfers fall to 4:3 (only the Sapphire Reserve keeps 1:1). Still the best entry-level card for flexible travel points.

Rates are what our model counts per dollar. Brand-specific bonuses (like a hotel card at its own hotels) are blended, since most people don't put all category spending with one brand. Typical spending here means our quiz defaults: $4,830 a month, including $2,500 rent or mortgage. Points are valued at 1.5¢ each (travel portal redemption); transferring to airline or hotel partners can be worth more.
